Driscoll Health Plan announce the establishment of Community Centers
Driscoll
Health Plan, in partnership with the County of Hidalgo and the County of
Cameron, Texas, held two ribbon cutting ceremonies on September 16th and
17th, to announce the establishment of the Health Education and
Literacy Program (HEAL)- Community Connection Center and the Cameron Community
Connection Center.
Both Centers will offer health education at no cost to Cameron and Hidalgo County residents,
including immediate supplies and monthly presentations to grow families’ awareness
of health topics. We know that families with health education are more likely
to be healthier and reduce high risk factors. There will be information on more
than 23 health topics for families, expecting mothers and children. Families
will also be able to connect with community resources. The goal of this program
is to highlight the social determinants of health with awareness and encourage
long-term healthier habits.
