On Friday, April 7th, Driscoll Health Plan Outreach staff attended the Noche de Amor Gala, hosted by their newest community partner Esperanza de Tejas. The evening was filled with various community partners in attendance, great food, dancing and inspiring stories that brought happy tears to guests’ eyes. Esperanza de Tejas, Inc. is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide underrepresented communities with access to fresh food, education, and workforce opportunities, and promote healthy relationships at home. The organization has been serving the Coastal Bend for 3 years, and to date, has provided life-changing necessities to over 6,000 children and families since its inception.
To further their mission, Driscoll Health Plan presented a check for $5,000 to be used for their Mobile Community Room that will provide free necessities – such as diapers, baby wipes, bottles, formula, and clothing – to underserved communities. “With the Driscoll partnership, Esperanza de Tejas, Inc. will be able to expand their Niños de Esperanza Diaper Bank and Children’s Free Store beyond Nueces County to now serve Jim Wells, San Patricio, Aransas, Kleberg, Hidalgo, and Webb counties. “We could not be more excited to be working with Driscoll Health Plan,” said Brianna Davis, CEO of Esperanza de Tejas, Inc. “They have been ensuring that individuals in our community receive the proper care for their needs for the past 25 years. Our missions and vision align to meet the needs of our community and having a mobile community room allows us to meet our community where they are.”
