Driscoll Health Plan Check Presentation to The Right Start: by Julia Samaniego

On Saturday April 1, Driscoll Health Plan presented a check for $10,000 to The Right Start, formerly known as Summer Sports and Wellness Camp. The Right Start is a summer program for low-income children that is held at a nearby college/university campus. Their mission is to educate students in making healthy choices, staying active, school subjects such as reading and math, financial literacy, and the importance of higher education.  The program is extended locally to TAMU-CC and now this summer to TAMUK. The summer wellness camp features many physical activities to include traditional sports, nontraditional sports, team building exercises, swimming, and exclusive field trips that the participants may not have had the chance to experience had they not been a part of this camp. In 2022, Driscoll Health Plan’s contribution allowed nearly 50 participants to attend the camp. More than 105 students are anticipated to attend this year and we cannot wait for the outcome.
