Mary Dale Peterson, MD, MSHCA, named Driscoll Health System Executive Vice President and COO

CORPUS CHRISTI – Mary Dale Peterson, MD, MSHCA, has been named Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Driscoll Health System.

Dr. Peterson has served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Driscoll Health Plan since 2006, where she has overseen tremendous growth in membership, services and improving population health in South Texas.

In her new role, Dr. Peterson will oversee system-wide clinical operations, hospital support systems, clinics and physician groups, and the Driscoll Health Plan.

“I am thrilled to be Driscoll Health System’s Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President. I will have oversight for the hospital, physician groups and the health plan. This will enable me to ensure that we work together to provide the best care to the families we serve, whether in the home, physician’s office or hospital,” said Dr. Peterson.

Dr. Peterson began her career at Driscoll Children’s Hospital in 1984 as the hospital’s second full-time anesthesiologist. She went on to manage the care in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). At Driscoll, she served as chief of staff and on numerous hospital committees.
