Zika is a virus that is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito or sexual contact with an infected partner. It can cause birth defects if a woman gets the virus during her pregnancy. Certain mosquito repellent products are avaialable to STAR and STAR Kids members as part of Medicaid’s year-round benefit. DHP staff also offer training on precautionary measures.
